UPDATE NOV. 3: The Clark County Coroner has identified the man who as 34-year-old Maurice Jamaal Parker from Las Vegas. Parker's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and his death is listed as a homicide. The determination of a homicide is not a legal charge or accusation, only a manner of death.
UPDATE NOV. 2: The officers involved in the Oct. 27 shooting inside a convenience store on North Pecos Road near Carey Avenue have been identified as Sergeant Steven Perry, Detective Eric Stafford, Detective Solon McGill and Detective Julien Pappas by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Sergeant Perry is 52 years old and has been employed with the LVMPD since 1999. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division.
Detective Stafford is 35 years old and has been employed with the LVMPD since 2008. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division.
Detective McGill is 41 years old and has been employed with the LVMPD since 2013. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division.
Detective Pappas is 31 years old and has been employed with the LVMPD since 2014. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division.
The officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.
ORIGINAL STORY
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- On Oct. 27 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detectives responded to a business located in the 2500 block of North Pecos Road to follow up on a shooting that took place earlier in the day.
Detectives received information that the shooting suspect was working at the business. Upon arriving, officers observed the person in the convenience store and immediately gave him verbal commands which he initially obeyed.
Suddenly, the man reportedly turned and pulled a handgun from his waistband. Officers fired striking the suspect several times.
Medical personnel responded and pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
This is the 17 th officer involved shooting of 2020. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.
