Officer involved in shooting near Eastern Avenue and Robindale identified

UPDATE 11:20 A.M. MARCH 19: The officer involved in the March 16 police involved shooting near Fountain Heights Lane and Robindale Road has been identified as Officer Darko Milanovic.

Officer Milanovic is 31 years old and has been employed with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since July 2016. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) - Las Vegas police were involved in a shooting in the 8000 block of South Eastern Avenue near Robindale on Saturday night.

Police say that they received a call around 9:37 p.m. that there was a robbery in progress at a business in the 8000 block of South Eastern Avenue. The thief, who was armed, took a register from the business and ran away before police officers arrived.

At about 10:19 p.m., officers located the suspect near Fountain Heights Lane and Robindale Road. The officers told the man to put down his gun, which was in a holster on his hip. The man appeared to be complying but then reached for the gun. An officer fired his duty weapon, hitting the man.

The man was transported to Sunrise Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This is the 2nd shooting involving Las Vegas police in less than 24 hours. A Las Vegas police officer shot a man outside of the Bellagio hotel-casino on Friday night. The man, who police say had just robbed the hotel-casino, later died at an area hospital.

This is the 5th officer-involved shooting so far this year for Las Vegas police. The name of the officer involved will be releaesed in 48 hours.
