UPDATE JAN. 11: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as 32-year-old Jose Jesus Santa Cruz from Las Vegas. Santa Cruz' death was due to gunshot wounds to the torso and it was ruled a homicide.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- One person is dead after a shooting on East Charleston Boulevard between Lamb and Nellis boulevards.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received reports of gunfire around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.

The agency says its ShotSpotter equipment also detected gunfire in the same area.
Police believe the victim was walking in a parking lot of a business when he got into an argument with an unidentified man.
The shooter is described as a Black man, 5-feet 8-inches to 6-feet 2-inches tall, wearing a back and white long-sleeve t-shirt or jacket. He was also carrying a dark backpack.
