LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Self defense or something else? Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating a homicide near Jones Boulevard and Vegas Drive in the 6200 block of Long Valley Drive with conflicting reports on what led to the incident.
Lt. Ray Spencer said LVMPD responded to a shooting in the residential area around 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
A black male, described as being in his mid-20's to early 30's, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

"The occupants of the house were at home when a group of individuals arrived at the house around 7:30 (p.m.)," Spencer said. "That group of individuals entered the house armed with a long rifle. ... At some point there was a struggle inside the house."
The owner of the home, who admitted to firing the shot that killed the subject, has been detained with police investigating conflicting reports on what happened inside the home.
At least "5 or 6 individuals" were involved in the incident according to Lt. Spencer.
