At 8:02 a.m., Las Vegas firefighters responded to a reported building fire at 550 East Charleston Boulevard.

The firefighters arrived at the scene and found that a fire was burning in some brush and in a tree.  The fire in the tree stretched to a one story commercial building nearby but firefighters were able to put the fire out before any substantial damage occurred.

Witnesses told firefighters that they saw a person starting the fire in the brush.  Las Vegas Fire & Rescue arson investigators responded and arrested a man thought to be involved. He has since been taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

Antonio A. Silva, 52, presumed to be homeless, was arrested and charged with one count Arson, First Degree and one count Arson, Third Degree.

No one was injured during the incident and the damage to the outside of the building is estimated at $5,000.
