HENDERSON (KTNV) — The Henderson Police Department has reported an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported to be near College Drive and Paradise Hills Drive at approximately 11:55 a.m.

Henderson Police Sergeant Julio Delgado provided more information on this shooting.

Delgado said officers responded to the 700 block of Vista Sereno Court after a caller said that a family member was causing a "family disturbance and was suicidal."

The caller also informed police that the man would ignore officer commands and further tell the officers to "shoot him."

When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect outside of the residence. Police said the the man "produced a long gun," thus an exchange of fire pursued.

Officers repositioned themselves and encountered the man again. A second round of gunfire happened.

Police said the male then went into the garage, and then later exited again with no weapons in his hands, and was taken into custody without further incident.

While this encounter was happening, smoke started to appear from inside the residence. When the smoke was detected, neighbors were told to evacuate while the fire department responded.

The Henderson police sergeant said two officers were involved in this shooting. Officers nor subjects sustained any injuries from the incident.

According to the press briefing, this is the third officer involved shooting for the City of Henderson. Police wanted to let everyone know that these are only the preliminary details.
