Henderson police arrested a woman Wednesday afternoon during an attempted bank robbery.

The woman was also wanted for the robberies of the U.S. Bank, located at 10565 S. Eastern Ave., on Feb. 11 and the Bank of Nevada, located at 10199 S. Eastern Ave., on March 1.

Sharon Newman, 45, was arrested without incident around 2:45 p.m., while attempting to rob the U.S. Bank located at 4550 E. Sunset Road, near Green Valley Parkway.

Henderson police detectives noticed a black Nissan Versa in front of the bank that matched the vehicle description used by the suspect in the other robberies. Officers called inside the bank to check their welfare and then alerted the staff to lock the doors.

Officers observed the female suspect leave the vehicle running and approach the bank when officers arrested her near the front entrance to the bank. Officers located a black replica handgun and a bank robbery note on the suspect.

The suspect robbed the previous banks by presenting a note demanding money from bank employees. The employees handed over an undisclosed amount of cash in both robberies.

No one was injured during either of the previous robberies or Wednesday’s attempted robbery.

Newman is being held at the Henderson Detention Center on two counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
