Father of man wanted for murder of Lesly Palacio arrested

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — An arrest has been made in connection to the disappearance and death of 22-year-old Lesly Palacio.

46-year-old Jose Rangel was arrested on Jan. 19 by the US Customs and Border Control in San Diego, California.

Rangel was extradited to Las Vegas and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Jan. 31. He is facing charges of harboring/concealing/aiding a felony offender and destroying/concealing evidence.

Palacio was last seen on Aug. 29, 2020. On Sept. 9, her body was recovered near the Valley of Fire State Park in Moapa Valley. It was determined that foul play was involved.

25-year-old Erick Rangel-Ibarra was identified as the suspect in Palacio’s death. His father, Jose Rangel, was suspected of helping his son escape to Mexico.

Palacio’s family claimed that the young woman went to Longhorn Casino with family friend Erick Rangel before disappearing.

The Longhorn Casino also released surveillance video of Palacio and Rangel-Ibarra in the casino.

Erick Rangel-Ibarra has not been arrested.
