LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Police are investigating after a deadly shooting overnight in west Las Vegas.

Officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls around 10 p.m. Wednesday night reporting shots fired at an apartment complex on Tropicana Avenue near Jones Boulevard.

The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the victim arrived at the apartment complex to conduct a narcotics transaction.

As the victim walked toward the breezeway of the complex, two suspects wearing masks approached the victim and attempted to rob him.

One of the suspects was later identified as 30-year-old Jarreese Ford.

At some point, one of the suspects produced a handgun and a struggle ensued between the armed individual and the victim. During the struggle, the suspect fired multiple rounds striking the victim and Ford.

The victim collapsed and the suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Ford was later dropped off at Spring Valley Hospital and subsequently airlifted to UMC Trauma where he remains in critical condition.

The identification of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
