UPDATE: Arrest made in shooting death of 70-year-old man

UPDATE: Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says an arrest has been made in the shooting death of a 70-year-old man.

The investigation led by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated 36-year-old Otis Buchanan and his friend, 31-year-old Dalana Smedley, followed the victim home from a bar.

Police say as the victim exited his vehicle, Buchanan shot him, stole his wallet, and then ran away.

On Dec. 28, Buchanan and Smedley were located by patrol officers and taken into custody without incident.

The two were booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery with a Deadly Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.

The identification of the victim has not been released at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a 70-year-old man on Sunday.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near Mountain Vista and Tropicana Avenue.

Police say the man was shot as he was getting out of his car. After he fell to the ground, the gunman reportedly punched him.

The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he died.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased.
