LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Brian Dewakuku, 22, has been arrested for the deaths of the couple who were shot inside of a car on July 29 near East McWilliams and North Eastern avenues.
Police say that the shooting was reported at about 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found 2 people in a silver Toyota RAV 4 on North Eastern Avenue.
Dae’shawn King, 24, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 23-year-old Edna Paola Reyes was transported to a nearby hospital where she died.
Police say the shooting happened on East McWilliams and King was able to drive away before dying.
During the investigation, police found a surveillance video showing an unidentified male in dark clothing approaching the Toyota Rav 4 after it stopped nearby.
He approached the front passenger side door and talked to the people inside for about 7 minutes.
As the vehicle drove away, the man could be seen firing at the vehicle.
Police were able to find a conversation on Facebook between two people about a delivery.
At about 6:30 p.m. July 29, police received a call from a man who said that his neighbor told him that he had killed 2 people earlier in the day as a result of a “bad drug deal.” He provided police with an address and identified the possible shooter.
Police were able to apprehend Dewakuku at his residence. They also recovered a gun and other evidence.
