F3H 2nd Alarm 1418 S 3rd St flames thru roof of vacant 2-sto bldg, crews setting up attacking, 2nd alarm requested, PIO1 enroute PIO1

Firefighters called a second alarm as flames went through the roof of a vacant two-story building.
Because the vacant building is next to an occupied motel, a second alarm was requested to assist.
Firefighters first surrounded the fire to ensure it did not leave the property, then they began attacking the main bulk of the fire in the building.
It took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
All of the damage was confined to the building; it did not affect any adjacent properties.
The fire did major damage to the roof and second floor, substantial water and falling debris damage on the first floor.
A damage estimate was not immediately available.
The cause of fire is under investigation.
A fire happened in the same building on July 12, 2014.
While the cause of the fire was undetermined, it appeared that homeless people were living in the building.
