“This was kind of the test run to see how it went,” says Dr. Christina Madison, Roseman University. “Now we know what our capacity is and so we can help put a dent in trying to vaccinate our community.”
Dr. Madison is in the Tier 1 group.
“It’s been almost exactly 24 hours since I got the vaccine,” says Dr. Madison.

According to the Southern Nevada Health District, Tier 1 includes those in a general medical and surgical hospital, pharmacists, and long-term care staff and residents.

Jody Domineck, a Las Vegas hospital nurse, recently got the vaccine.
“I was incredibly relieved to be able to continue to care for our community and to keep my family safe,” says Domineck.
Gov. Steve Sisolak previously said that while he wants transparency, he doesn’t want folks to get tied up in the reporting of data, versus actually administering the vaccine.
Dr. Madison says this is new territory and health officials are trying to get the vaccine rollout done as quickly as possible.
“The fact that we’ve kind of pivoted to figure out what was working and what wasn’t is really going to help accelerate how many people we can get vaccinated,” says Dr. Madison.
