CLARK COUNTY (KTNV) — The Southern Nevada Health District reports an additional case of the U.K. COVID-19 variant in Clark County, the seventh case reported in the county so far.

Officials say the man who tested positive for the new B.1.1.7 variant is in his 30s and was visiting Clark County.
He has been isolating and was not hospitalized, according to SNHD.
Officials also say this case has not been linked to the previously reported cases.

The B.1.1.7 strain is thought to spread more easily but is not believed to cause more severe illness or increase the risk of death.
The vaccines currently being used will still provide protection against the variants of the virus, the health district says.
