LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Wednesday marks the start of an Excessive Heat Warning for most of the Las Vegas valley, but the rise in temperatures could make wearing a mask even more uncomfortable.

One Las Vegas area family physician says she's already seeing patients experiencing anything from anxiety to shortness of breath and even headaches from wearing their mask for several hours a day.
She's calling the condition "mask fatigue."

She's concerned she could see more of that as temperatures rise.

"The respirators are warm, so it does heat up, the mask does heat up the face," said Dr. Daliah Wachs. "You don't want to rip it off, you want to pull from behind the ears."

Here are some tips to wearing a mask in the heat:
- Find a mask with a lighter material.
- Bring a backup in case the one you have becomes sweaty.
- Avoid touching your face even if your mask is slipping.
