CARSON CITY (KTNV) — Due to the increase of COVID-19-related hospitalizations Nevada's healthcare facilities are trying to come up with new options to treat patients if facilities become full.

Renown Health, which operates healthcare facilities in Nevada, said in one location they may open an alternate care sight in its parking garage that can accommodate 1,600 patient beds.

While the need to utilize these extra beds is not needed at this time, during Gov. Sisolak's press conference today it was mentioned these extra beds may be needed soon.

Renown Health CEO Anthony D. Slonim said he doesn't take the decision to put patients in a parking structure lightly, but said it may happen as soon as this week.
