HENDERSON (KTNV) — The battle over drag queen story time is heating up in Henderson.
Protesters and counter protesters clashed again on Saturday morning outside of Green Valley Library.
13 Action News spoke to Chris Davin with Equality Nevada.
The protest was organized by a group called Mass Resistance. Their website says that they protect the traditional family, school children and the moral foundation of society. The Southern Poverty Law Center lists Mass Resistance as a hate group.
Henderson Libraries released a statement that says in part that "Diversity Divas, a drag queen story time, has been scheduled to celebrate and support the diversity that exists across individuals and families in our community."
Several other libraries have also faced the same type of protests because of similar programs.
During Pride Month in Sparks, many petitioned to have them cancel a drag queen reading in Sparks.
A similar thing also happened in Southern California.
Davis says that he and others are prepared to counter any new protests that pop up in the future.
