New TV streaming service named Philo now available

and last updated

There's a new streaming service for live TV. It's called Philo and it's actually the cheapest yet.

It costs $16 a month for 37 channels, including A&E, HGTV and the Discovery Channel. However, there are not sports channels like ESPN.

The least expensive service before Philo was Sling TV. You can get the same number of channel from Sling for about $20 per month.

Of course, both of these are much cheaper than your typical cable service. One consumer research company found the average cable bill to be around $100 per month.

Before you make the switch though, you need to think about what is really important to you. Neither Philo or Sling TV offer the major networks -- ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. However, you can usually get these by using an antenna.
