A valley mother desperate to help her son. She reached out to 13 Action News when no one else would listen. Our contact 13 Call For Action volunteers made a call, and made a difference.

"It was just getting worse and worse," says Claudia Barton.

She was getting nowhere fast. Her son, Justin, has cerebral palsy and needed a new wheelchair.

"It was just about on its last leg. Brakes didn't work any more. The seat didn't work any more. The foot rests were a problem," says Claudia.

But Justin can't have just any chair. Everything you see is measured to fit him perfectly. And a recent change with their insurance carrier, meant Claudia had to deal with a new wheelchair supplier.

"It was just hassle after hassle, and we need this paperwork, we need that paperwork. It was just terrible," says Claudia.

Claudia says she tried getting Justin into a new chair for months.

"I would call and leave messages. They didn't return them," says Claudia.

That's when a friend told her to call Contact 13. Our Call For Action volunteers reached out to the supplier, and Claudia saw fast results.

"Probably 2 hours max, these people were calling me," says Claudia.

After getting the correct measurements and waiting for the right parts, Justin is finally in a new chair. And now Claudia is taking time to spread the same advise her friend gave her.

So here's the Contact 13 bottom line: When you're not getting the help you need from any business, don't back down. You have rights. Don't be afraid to ask for a supervisor, and talk to as many people as it takes.
