It's not just fireworks that can start fires on the Fourth of July, so can your barbecue grill.
Recent examples include a home that was completely destroyed because of an unattended grill in Utah.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, the leading cause is a dirty grill.
Grease fires are very unpredictable and can quickly get out of control if you are not paying attention.
That can lead to complete destruction and even injuries.
If a fire does get out of control and you are using a propane grill, do NOT use water. Adding water can actual make the fire grow. Instead, dump baking soda on the fire and close the lid.
And if you are using a charcoal grill, keeping a garden hose or a water bucket handy is a good idea.
