There is a rise of vacation rental scams in the Lake Tahoe area.
Authorities said the fraudulent listing appear on websites, like Craigslist. Rather than asking for credit card number, the scammers ask for a wire transfer.
Police said to stick with a legitimate company, use a credit card and if it looks to be too good to be true, it probably is.
