Clark County elections officials warning of texts claiming voters not registered

Posted
and last updated

With early voting starting in just days, the busy Clark County Election Department is having to spend a significant amount of time handling calls from concerned voters.

Some people who thought they're registered are getting some surprising texts claiming they're not.

The Nevada Secretary of State's Office is warning about texts from numbers with a 702 area code claiming you're not registered and it's not up to date. Some may be outright scams while others might be from third party groups that mean well but might not have updated information. Either way, you shouldn't respond.

If you are registered, there is a way to tell if mail you get is legitimate, since it will have an official trademark symbol.

You can also check your registration on registertovotenv.gov.
