Coroner releases names of murder-suicide couple

UPDATE NOV. 18: The Clark County coroner has identified the deceased as 29-year-old Mackenzie McGrail of Las Vegas and 34-year-old Brandon Ward Beck of Las Vegas.

McGrail's cause of death was a gunshot wound to head/face. Her death was ruled a homicide. Beck's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Two people are dead in the northwest area of the valley after an apparent murder-suicide.

It happened Friday night in the 2100 block of La Sombra Street near Lake Mead and Jones Boulevards.

Police believe a women in her 20s was shot by a man in his 30s before he killed himself during an argument.

Police were contacted at approximately 7:30 p.m. Police say there were several children in the home at the time.

A grandmother had taken one of the children to the store and learned about the shooting when she called the home.

She contacted police and police officers found the children in the home when they arrived. It’s believed at least one child saw the shooting.

The children appear to be under the age of 10. Their exact relationships are not known to the couple because there were other biological parents on the scene Friday night.

This is the 91st homicide of 2019 in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction. The Clark County coroner will release names and ages after notification has been made.
