UPDATE DEC. 5 11 PM: The family says a six-year-old injured in a crash that killed his nine-year-old brother was never in critical condition.

The family did not want to give the boy's name, because of privacy concerns, but disputed officers initial reports the younger boy was in critical condition.

The family says their soul focus at this point is making funeral arrangements for the nine-year-old Raul Gamboa.

They have set up a GoFundMe account for the memorial.

UPDATE DEC. 5: The boy who was killed in a crash on Monday has been identified by the coroner as 9-year-old Raul Xavier Gamboa.

ORIGINAL STORY

At 9:04 a.m a deadly crash occurred at Broadbent Boulevard and Cherry Street, near Tropicana Avenue.

Reports say a Chrysler van was making a U-turn on Cherry Street when it has hit by a Ford F-150 traveling southbound. The collision sent both vehicles spinning.

The driver of the Chrysler, 30-year-old Ashlea Hawk, and two children (ages 9 and 6) were transported to Sunrise Hospital. The nine-year-old juvenile passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Chrysler did not have a back seat and the children were not wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Luciano Garcia, remained at the collision scene to report the incident to police.
