LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — CCSD Supt. Dr. Jesus Jara gave his 2021 State of the Schools address Friday morning virtually from the Wynn.
Dr. Jara began by talking about the difficulties the pandemic has brought on the district, including the struggles employees, students and their families have endured.
He went on to talk about an increase in student suicides saying 20 students have taken their own lives since the pandemic began.
13 Action News has been unable at this time to independently verify the number of suicides among CCSD students.
He also talked about finding more highly-qualified teachers, making sure students have access to the classes they need, ad more support for principals.
.@SuptJaraCCSD: Despite the countless obstacles that have stood in our way and the insurmountable challenges that still lie ahead.
