CCSD transportation responds to bus concerns

Posted

CCSD transportation is hoping for better communication with parents heading into this next school year.

They've launched a new website, which allows any student to find out their bus route by typing in their student ID and date of birth.

In the past, parents have had to deal with times where buses were late or a no-show.  Some of that was attributed to a shortage of drivers.

CCSD says as it stands now, they still have a shortage of around 50 drivers heading into the school year, but are working on adding more.

"We want to make the public satisfied with our services at all times but again when you think of the immensity of our organization, things happen," says transportation director Jim Reynolds.

Some other parents also complained about long wait times trying to call the department when issues arise.  Reynolds says there aren't enough phone lines, and budget is still an issue.

He says he hopes the new online system to inform parents will alleviate some of those issues heading into the school year.
