As teachers around the country marched to make a change in their classrooms, some Clark County School District teachers have decided to form a new union to represent educators across Las Vegas.
The group signed official memberships to the National Education Association of Southern Nevada Thursday.
"When you have happy engaged teachers that's going to come out in the students," said Physical Education teacher Chet Miller.
The new union was formed in response to a vote Wednesday night by the current union, Clark County Education Association, who have decided to cut ties with state and national organization.
Some teachers said they felt unrderrepresented by CCEA after the union held dues back in September.
The new union is creating some tension between teachers who are apart of the original union. For now, teachers will get the chance to pick which union they would like to pay dues to.
