Educators looking for improved grades with schools reopening

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — In just one week students will head back to school in Clark County.

And a lot of parents, educators and students hope doing this will help improve grades and those who are behind.

During the fall 2020 semester, the Clark County School District says 90% of schools assigned more F grades than they did in the fall of 2019.

But the problem stretches further than Clark County.

"Some of it is technology, but some of it is space, some of it is, you know, there are multiple age groups in the home and not a lot of space and you need a quiet space," said Dr. Randy Mahlerwein.

Tutors in Las Vegas say another issue is the lack of communication between teachers and students, adding that some kids need more attention and that's a struggle with distance learning.
