LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Schools will not reopen next month, according to Clark County School District Supt. Dr. Jesus Jara.

Jara squashed rumors about a possible reopening during a virtual meeting Thursday night.

Trustees also received an update on distance learning.

The district is at 97% of projected enrollment and 99% of enrolled students have been marked present at least once.

Officials say they have heard from several parents who say it is tough keeping their children engaged for six hours online.

The health district says there could be a higher risk of COVID-19 spread if the schools reopen.
