The Clark County School District announced during a press conference Thursday that its police department will resume hiring police officers after a temporary hiring freeze.
It comes at a time when the district is battling an increase in violence on campuses.
Captain Ken Young said the department was given the green light to hire at least eight more police officers.
The police department will also start holding community meetings. The department hopes to gather input from parents, teachers, and others about safety on school campuses.
"We are concerned. We are looking for answers. We are looking for solutions," Young said.
The dates of the community meetings have not yet been announced.
