LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Five employees at Variety School, a Clark County School District school for students with disabilities, are now staying away from work for 14 days after traveling to Seattle for work.

CCSD would not specify when the trip took place, but a source with knowledge about the conference said the event took place the March 4 to 6.

CCSD halted all travel for students on March 5 and all travel for faculty on March 9.

As of March 10, CCSD said the one administrator and four teachers are staying away from the school for 14 days as a precautionary step. They do not show coronavirus symptoms and are not believed to have been exposed to anyone with the virus.

CCSD sent out a note to parents of Variety students saying, “Student safety is our number one priority. Some staff members at Variety School were recently in Seattle for Clark County School District-related business. Due to the recent developments on the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and in an abundance of caution, these staff members will not return to Variety School for 14 days. Thank you for your patience and continued support. If you have any questions, please contact the Student Services Division.”

According to the CDC, Washington State has seen more people test positive for coronavirus than any other state, with the Washington State Department of Health reporting 262 cases as of March 10.
