Surveillance cameras were rolling when a truck side-swiped a family's car on Torrey Pines Drive, near Desert Inn Road Saturday evening.

"All of a sudden I get slammed on the driver's side of my car," said driver Jeremiah Morrill, "... All I see is a bunch of dust flying everywhere, tire flying."

The collision happened just steps from Morrill's home around 5:30 p.m.  His wife and children, who were inside at the time, heard the crash.

Morrill was hit on the driver's side of his car.  He was not physically injured.

"If he had turned any sooner he could have gotten hit," said wife Rachel Morrill.

The point of impact was just inches from their baby's car safety seat.

"My daughter wanted to go with him," said Rachel Morrill.

"I don't even want to think about what could actually have happened," said father Jeremiah Morrill.

The family is sharing their story with 13 Action News because they say speeding is a chronic problem on that stretch of Torrey Pines. They are urging drivers to slow down.

"It's a residential neighborhood, just be aware of that," said Morrill.

If you recognize the truck in the surveillance video, contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
