Carson City Freeway renamed for sheriff's deputy

Posted
A highway in the northern part of the state is being renamed in honor of a sheriff's deputy who was killed in the line of duty.

Nevada's Department of Transportation has dedicated the Carson City Freeway to Deputy Sheriff Carl Howell.

Howell was shot and killed earlier this year after responding to a call about domestic violence.

One sign has already been replaced in each direction of the newly dedicated freeway. More signs are planned in the upcoming months.
