Calif. woman critically injured after hit by car east of Strip

Las Vegas police say a California woman was struck by a car and critically injured in a crash near the Strip Sunday morning.
   
Authorities say 23-year-old Deonsha Armstrong-Stewart, of Palmdale, was walking outside of a marked crosswalk on Flamingo Road near Linq Lane around 3:40 a.m. when she was hit by Pontiac Vibe.
   
Witnesses say a vehicle traveling westbound on Flamingo tried to avoid Armstrong-Stewart and applied the brakes. But the front of the car hit her.
   
She was taken to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries.
   
The driver, who stayed at the scene, and two passengers were not injured. Police say there are no signs of impairment from the driver.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
