Husband of woman killed in crossfire speaks out

UPDATE: The coroner's office identifies the victim as 41-year-old Raquel Stapinski of Las Vegas. 13 Action News spoke with her husband of nearly 20 years.  
 
"All I know is that she ran out of the apartment," said Richard Stapinski, "I think she was shot in the back."
 
Loved ones say Raquel was leaving a party when a fight broke out in the parking lot. She was shot and killed just steps from her apartment.
 
"The people around here don't want to talk about it, they're tight-lipped," said Stapinski.  
 
Detectives have not made any arrests.  
 
Raquel, originally from Chicago, had lived in the valley for over nine years. She had been homeless at one time but worked hard and had dreams of going to culinary school.
 
Raquel's remembered as funny, loyal, and tough.  
 
"She took care of my mother 24-7, my mother was mean," said Stapinski.
 
No funeral arrangements have been made.

One woman is dead after a shooting on Sunday evening.
 
It was reported around 9 p.m. at an apartment complex near Charleston Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive.
 
Police say there was a dispute in the parking lot which involved two groups of people and of those, at least two individuals were firing handguns.
 
During the exchange of gunfire, the victim was struck. It is believed that the female was associated with one of the groups involved in the original altercation.
 
No suspect or suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made in this case.
 
This is the 41st homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016. The identity of the deceased, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Several people were told to stay inside after several gunshots went off near Torrey pines and Charleston. Police say an innocent bystander was killed. A number of apartments have bullet holes in them.
