LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Her family gave her a strong foundation of support, and on Thursday, her graduation was a reflection of the love that was poured into her. Ashley Vasquez-Romo graduated Basic Academy with one of the highest GPA's in the history of the Clark County School district.
13 Action News first introduced Ashley earlier this month. Vasquez-Romo's GPA is expected to reach a 6.5 when her final grades come in.
"It's been great, I'm sad to go," the graduate said. "But I know there's more things coming, so it's bittersweet."
Ashley Vasquez-Romo crossed the stage as number one in the class of 2022 at Basic Academy.
Vasquez-Romo was born to Mexican immigrants who worked hard to give her and her siblings what their parents grew up without. She publicly showed her gratitude for her parents and everything they have sacrificed.
Vasquez-Romo chose to attend Harvard University in the fall on a full ride scholarship.
"My fellow classmates," she said. "It may appear as if it is finished, but this is just the beginning. Class of 2022, we did it."
