LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas firefighters are investigating after they say a body was found in a burning vehicle on Sunday.

The vehicle was not involved in a crash, authorities say.

Crews responded to reports of the burning vehicle around 1 p.m. at the end of Washburn, west of the 215, in the far northwest part of the city. When they arrived, crews say the car was engulfed in flames.

A passer-by told firefighters that someone was inside the vehicle in the driver’s seat. They tried to rescue the person but told firefighters the fire was too intense.

The fire destroyed the vehicle.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue says there was no car crash involved, and the vehicle was in the road when they arrived to find it on fire.

The incident is currently under investigation by arson investigators, Las Vegas police and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

No one else was hurt during the incident.
