ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found at an apartment complex on Thursday.

It was reported around 10:26 a.m. The complex is located in the 2600 block of South Arville Street, near Twain Avenue.

Investigators say the body had been there for quite some time. Based on evidence at the scene, homicide detectives responded and are investigating.

The cause of death, as well as identity of the deceased, has not been released at this time.

Police are calling this a "suspicious death investigation". They say a neighbor got concerned after the apartment began to the smell.

Thursday morning, the property managers went inside the apartment, saw the body, and called authorities.

Neighbors describe the victim as a middle-aged man. Those who knew him say they haven't seen him in about a month. They are shocked because they never heard any fights or violent behavior coming from his unit.

"I haven't seen him in maybe a month and normally I'd hear him and his footsteps upstairs and the dog barking and prancing, but I haven't seen the dog or the victim in quite awhile," said neighbor Elysia Byrne.
