LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Some new wellness technology has arrived on the Las Vegas Strip.

From the outside the first thing you might notice is the shape; an octagon. But once inside you notice the cool, calming color.

"The blue is a calming color just to begin with. It's been proven over 100 years to be effective for stress,” said Dr. Matthew Martinez.

Martinez is the co-inventor of the Blu Room which is now open inside the Venetian/Palazzo in Hall C.

And then you feel it.

"I went in there without any expectation of what it does,” said one woman trying it for the first time. “From the very second I laid down I had this immediate desire to relax. And I felt this heat begin and it’s not too hot.”

The inventor said that feeling is from a wave of healing UV-B light. It’s 20 minutes of deep relaxation that soothes the mind, body and soul.

“They are medical UV-B lights. They help with psoriasis. It can help with vitamin D production,” said Martinez. “It can also help with endorphins in the body to create a good mood.”

And amid the neon lights of Las Vegas it could be just what you're looking for.

“I think people are overstimulated a little bit in Vegas and I'm thinking of most of the people who work here they're so busy,” Martinez said.

Dr. Martinez said while it’s not a cure for any illness its benefits can go beyond just stress relief.

"We've had people come in whether they are battling cancer, diabetes or any of those common diseases where they get resolution, “said Martinez. “Not saying the blue room helps heal that but it’s something that can be added in conjunction with your medical treatment. "
