NV Energy has a warning for homeowners regarding a scam involving utility worker impostors and salespeople claiming to work with the company.
Multiple videos caught on RING doorbell cameras show the disturbing trend.
“Yes, I work with NV Energy, do you have meters on both sides of your home,” says one impostor in a yellow safety vest.
This is a problem that NV Energy says they are taking seriously.
“We want the public to know that NV Energy will never go door to door soliciting any of our programs or services,” says Angelica Siveyra, NV Energy.
In a rare case that someone did show up at your home from NV Energy, workers are always identifiable in an official NV Energy shirt and have an ID badge on them at all times.
Videos show salespeople claiming to sell the panels and are working with NV Energy.
As for door-to-door salespeople, NV Energy does not partner with any valley companies that sell rooftop solar panels.
“We do see a lot of the times customers will pay, or they will open the door and then they will call us next," says Siveyra. “We ask that they don’t pay, they don’t open the door and that they reach out to us first.”
NV Energy has set up a website to report any suspicious activity.
