UPDATE: McCarran reported shortly after 5 p.m. that the issue had been resolved and baggage was no longer backed up.

ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- McCarran International Airport experienced a serious backup of passengers' baggage after a system outage Tuesday morning.

Around 10 a.m., the airport had a network computer system outage that affected its baggage handling system. It caused a major slowdown at their peak times as baggage could not be loaded on to departing flights.

Some airlines decided to go on without baggage while others decided to delay flights until the baggage could be loaded.

By 2:30 p.m., the system was back online but there was a backup of baggage as a result of the outage.
