LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — What’s being billed as America’s air show kicked off Saturday at Nellis Air Force Base as thousands of people came for the first day of Aviation Nation.
The boom of fighter jets thrilling crowds at Nellis.
“You’ve got the F-35s and the F-15s flying overhead and F-16s,” Griffin Johnson of Las Vegas said.
It’s all part of Aviation Nation, the premier air show for the U.S. Air Force. Visitors got to see all different types of planes in action showing off the air force’s military prowess.

“They get a pretty good idea of the capabilities.”
For Air Force veteran Chris Byrd, seeing the planes up in the air in action brought back memories when he made sure they were in working order. He’s fascinated on how advanced current planes have become.
“From a maintainer’s prospective, you have to appreciate the technology. You just have to and it’s all good,” he said.
For visitors the sight of the air force’s capabilities in the sky was enough to inspire.
“I mean that never gets old. The after-burner fly-bys. Those guys pulling high g-turns,” Johnson said.
