Clark County Fire Department responded to a fire on Lisbon Avenue near East Desert Inn Road and Swenson Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported at 4:30 p.m. The first unit arrived at 4:32 and reported heavy smoke coming from a ground-floor apartment.
The fire was knocked down at 4:41 p.m. Firefighters took extra precautions to account for the extreme heat.
Neighbors told 13 Action news that a mother and her two children were in the apartment at the time of the fire and were able to escape. They were displaced as a result of the fire and are being helped by the American Red Cross.
The estimated damage to the structure and contents was $25,000.
