LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The New Year’s fireworks show on the Strip draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, and this year marks the 20th anniversary of the show.

It’s a New Year’s countdown preview at the Fashion Show Mall, giving a small taste of the party that’s to come.

“Mind-blowing, incredible awesome…amazing,” said Fletch Brunelle, the vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor’s Bureau

This year marks the 20th anniversary of America’s party, a pyrotechnic display filling the skies above the Strip.

“This is going to be bigger and better than any of the ones that we’ve had in the past. The new countdown they’ve added will be incredible from the top of four of the resorts,” Brunelle said.

The show is being produced by Fireworks from Grucci. It will be an eight-minute performance synced to a soundtrack featuring the best of the 2000s. This is all part of the theme for this year’s show, the Big 20.

“From up and down the Strip, no matter your vantage point, you’ll see an incredible firework show, and then enjoy the great dining and cocktails here in Las Vegas,” he said.

The event will also be a big draw for tourism. The LVCVA says it expects 330,000 visitors to the Las Vegas valley, bringing a direct economic impact of $240 million.

“They won’t only be on the Strip, but they’ll also be downtown visiting the Viva Vision screen the Fremont Street Experience,” Brunelle said.

With the New Year’s holiday marking a high point for Vegas entertainment, officials are making sure everyone stays safe.

“This is time where we close down the Strip and make sure it’s a safe environment for all of our visitors to come and enjoy the show,” he said.
