NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As construction continues on a new 855,000 square-foot facility from Amazon in North Las Vegas, near Ann Road and Sloan Lane, Amazon gave 13 Action News an inside look at the construction progress.

The facility is expected to bring in 1,000 jobs to the area when it opens in 2019, according to a company spokesperson.

The fulfillment center will handle products and package them for shipping when customers place their orders.

Robots on a large floor space will also sort the products before they are packed and go through conveyor belts before shipping.

Amazon says increased demand in the region is what prompted the facility. But they're no stranger to North Las Vegas as they already have another facility just off Interstate 15.

NLV Mayor John Lee says a combination of Nevada's business-friendly policies and the city easing red tape are making the area an attractive site for companies like Amazon.

Lee hopes to see more Fortune 500 companies follow suit.
