LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Almost 28,000 customers in the southeast Las Vegas valley were without power on Saturday afternoon.

According to NV Energy, the massive outage was caused by a vehicle that crashed into a transmission riser and disrupted multiple power lines, near the 215 and Green Valley Parkway. The driver was arrested and is facing DUI charges.

Residents in the area were without power for multiple hours.

Energy officials told Channel 13 that crews responded to the scene and worked to restore power "safely and quickly."

As of 8:30 p.m., NV Energy officials confirmed that power had been completely restored to the area.

People who were inside an area casino said the outage caught them by surprise. They said the slot machines, televisions, and lights went out.

"So, I am sitting there, and everything just blacks out. Completely black. I've been here many years— never have seen this," said the person.
