An official with Offutt Air Force Base tells KMTV that an airman was found dead at his dorm room on Sept. 16.

According to Drew Nystrom with Offutt's Public Affairs, Airman First Class Ian Wendland, 19, an Alternate Missile Warning Center operator assigned to the 55th Strategic Communications Squadron, was found deceased in his dorm room this past Friday.

Nystorm told KMTV that Airman Wendland arrived on-station Feb. 29 and was from the Las Vegas area.

"Airman Wendland was a valued member of the 55th Wing and we send our deepest condolences to his family and friends," Nystorm said in a statement.

Offutt says the investigation into his death is ongoing and toxicology test results are expected to take between six and eight weeks.

Officials added that no further information or details will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of this ongoing investigation.

This comes almost two months after officials found 55th Wing member Airman First Class Rhianda Dillard dead in her dorm room on August 1.
