LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Neighbors in the northwest part of Las Vegas, near Rainbow Boulevard and Farm Road, say they are fed up with bees attacking their animals.

Nikki Garcia said she had to move her horses across the street to her mom's house because they kept getting stung.

She says the problem stems from her a neighbor's house. Her neighbor is elderly and appears not to keep up the property - allowing bees to move in.

Now, the problem got so bad neighbors had to call code enforcement, who realized this was no easy task.

Workers extracted six hives and will check back for more to make sure the problem is gone.

Beekeeper Daniel Millette said this was the most significant case he's tackled this year. He also says Africanized bees, like these in the neighborhood, can be especially dangerous.

Residents can contact the Las Vegas Bee Hotline at 702-385-5853 if a neighborhood is having the same problem.
