The board approved joining the Achievement School District at an earlier meeting, which is a new initiative in Nevada to pair underperforming schools with charter school operators. Democracy Prep was one of three operators to apply for the partnership with Agassi Prep.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- The school board for Agassi Prep will meet on Tuesday night to decide if New York-based Democracy Prep will be taking over.
Many parents with students at Agassi Prep have spoken out about the possible takeover.
If the board approves, Democracy Prep could take over as soon as next school year.

Democracy Prep has a reputation for strict discipline and several parents don't like that. However, some parents are open to the idea, especially after they visited a school in New York.
Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy is a kindergarten through twelfth grade tuition-free public charter school. It is located on West Lake Mead Boulevard near Martin Luther King Boulevard.
The school was founded by Andre Agassi in 2001 and was conceived from Andre's belief that nothing has a greater impact on children's lives than they education they receive, according to the school's website.
