Two adults and two children are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross after a fire damaged their northwest Las Vegas home.
Fire dispatchers received several 911 calls at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday that flames were coming from the rear of a house on Duckwater Avenue, near Jones Boulevard and Tropical Parkway. When firefighters arrived, flames were visible from the rear of the two-story wood frame/stucco house. It appeared no one was home.
Firefighters from Las Vegas and North Las Vegas entered the home and found the kitchen on fire. The fire was extinguished in less than five minutes.
The fire gutted the kitchen and caused smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. Damage is estimated at $25,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
In addition to assistance from the American Red Cross, the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Foundation also assisted the family.
